A Brief History
Accounting Office began life in 1993 as the brain child of Ian Richards.
After many years of using Sage Line 100 and continually telling himself that he could write something better, he finally did something about it.
The original database was Oracle with Visual Basic V3 being used for the user interface.
This platform provided great flexibility, reliability and allowed for the product to be customised very rapidly.This flexibility proved attractive to many organisations, who were able to benefit from utilising key components of the software to interface with the existing systems and to software developers, who were able to develop strong vertical market applications on a tried and tested accounting platform.
End users have included Compaq Computer (now HP), National Westminster Bank, C.B.I., The Institute of Financial Accountants and the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi. Vertical market applications cover membership systems, wine importation, computer maintemance and repair booking systems, buying groups, real time on-line B2B ordering, EPOS applications etc. etc.
Software development is still directed by Ian. is on-going with our Job Management was released in December 2002, our telesales application and our metals, timber and plastic application front end was released in February 2003 and MRP, a development or the comprehensive BOM functionality is planned for a March 2003.
Our aim is to focus on continually developing and improving the quality of the software products we supply to our clients. Because of our ongoing commitment to product development, our flexibility and our willingness to help, we have won key contracts with major corporations against competition from higher profile organisations.
All of our software solutions are supported by ourselves or by a number of partners who have expertise in providing the full range of service functions.
