Accreditation
On October 20 2000 Accounting Office Software was accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). It was the first package to utilise MSDE, Microsoft's royalty free SQL database engine and the first affordable accountancy package designed to integrate seamlessly with Microsoft front and back office and other applications using Visual Basic for Applications.
The accreditation was an important first step to cement client confidence in the software, since it was a relative newcomer to a well-established market. But, unlike its competitors, Accounting Office Software hosts and supports Microsoft VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). This enables Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SME's) to easily customise the system to integrate with information keyed into other office and network systems during the course of normal business activity. It provides the opportunity to extend a series of disparate systems to become a comprehensive, shared business information and knowledge-based system.
